Gunter H. Lobe violin, Germany, 2009

Master violin maker Gunter Love is based in Bubenreuth, where he was elected “Obermeister” of the Bubenreuth/Erlangen Guild of Makers of Stringed Instruments in 2008. Since 1989, he has won a number of medals for his instruments in both Cremona and Mittenwald. This beautiful example of his work, made in 2009, has a vibrant, red-brown varnish which enhances well-selected tone woods. The bell-like tone is bright but with depth and richness, and the response is lively and immediate. This violin would be an excellent choice for an advanced student looking for a soloistic instrument.
